Must-Have skills are true essentials. If a candidate is missing any of them, they will not qualify for the role and won’t appear in the shortlist. Nice-to-Have skills are optional and can improve a candidate’s score, but missing them does not disqualify anyone.
For example, for a Frontend Developer role, you might mark React and JavaScript as Must-Have and TypeScript or GraphQL as Nice-to-Have. A candidate who has both Must-Haves but none of the Nice-to-Haves will still qualify, while someone missing React or JavaScript will not appear in the shortlist.
This ensures that all candidates in your shortlist meet the critical requirements, while still recognising additional skills that add value.
